Welcome to the BRAND NEW Celina Choir News blog!

I am excited to be in the process of creating a wonderful new tool to communicate high school and middle school choir events to students, parents,, administrators, and community members! This blog will feature calendars for middle school choirs and high school choirs, videos and pictures of recent performances and events, and will also be a great communication tool for our fundraisers, volunteer requests, and choir news.

As I write this, the chamber choir and A Cappella choir just performed their "100 Years of Broadway" show for two enthusiastic audiences this past weekend. In addition to learning and memorizing their music, students drew and painted colorful broadway signs, and the chamber choir even designed their own choreography. A pit band of current students and one Celina alum accompanied the show. Ticket sales totaled just under $1200. Thank you to all who came out and supported the Celina High School choir department!!

On November 8th, we hosted the Kent State Men's Chorus at the Purple Door Luthernan Church. The chamber choir made an appearance on the evening concert. Several choir students and their parents contributed to the meal for the chorus, and/or served as overnight hosts for chorus members. The next morning, the Kent State men did a clinic with all HS choir students in the choir room, singing for each other as well as hearing about singing in a college level choir. It was a great experience for all!

On November 1st, 14 students and I traveled to Lima Senior High School to the "College Music Fair". Several Ohio college and universities sent music admissions representatives to speak with students individually about becoming a music major as well as performing opportunities in their choirs and bands, regardless of whether a student is a music major or not. These students received a lot of information that will help in their decision of where to continue their education after high school.
